Yandex partners with Grubhub in robot delivery on US campuses
MOSCOW, Jul 7 (PRIME) -- Yandex Self-Driving Group, an autonomous vehicles developer of Russian Internet company Yandex, has signed a multi-year partnership with Grubhub, a U.S. online and mobile food-ordering and delivery platform, for robot delivery on U.S. college campuses, Yandex said in a statement seen by PRIME on Wednesday.
“We chose to partner with Grubhub for campus delivery because of Grubhub’s unparalleled reach into college campuses across the U.S., as well as the flexibility and strength of their ordering platform. We are delighted to deploy dozens of our rovers, taking the next step in actively commercializing our self-driving technology in different markets across the globe,” Yandex Self-Driving Group CEO Dmitry Polishchuk said.
Yandex said that its autonomous delivery robots can navigate pavements, pedestrian areas and crosswalks, and reach campus areas not accessible by car. Robotic delivery service offered by Yandex SDG is fully integrated into the Grubhub application.
